Michelle's safeguarding experience began in 2017, when she established a child protection policy service when CEO of Tzedek. She facilitated training programs for organisations to assist with the development and implementation of child protection policies. She also assisted delivering safeguarding services during COVID, with the development of resources and support to organisations.

In 2021, Michelle initiated the establishment of Maoz, to fill the gap in the Jewish community for a safeguarding service. Michelle has led the work to date in establishing Maoz, including research on the safeguarding needs of the Victorian Jewish community, developing safeguarding training programs for leadership, community members and volunteers and establishing an e-learning program for youth leaders and leadership.
